How to save places from TikTok and Instagram
To save a place you saw in a TikTok or an Instagram post, share the post to Zari, an iPhone app. Zari reads the caption, finds the place it names and pins it on your own map, sorted into categories like Food, Coffee and Drinks, so you can find it again when you’re nearby.
Step by step
- Install Zari on your iPhone. It is coming soon to the App Store.
- On the TikTok or Instagram post, tap Share.
- At the end of the row of apps, tap More, then Zari. Add Zari to your Favourites there and it stays at the front of the share sheet.
- Zari reads the caption and shows you the place it found. If it isn’t the right one, choose another or search for it.
- Pick a category and tap Save. The place is on your map.
It works for videos and photo posts on TikTok, and for posts and Reels on Instagram.
After you’ve saved it
- Every spot is a pin on your map. Filter it by category with a tap.
- Open a spot for its opening hours, ratings, your own notes and directions, or to watch the post you saved it from.
- Share a spot with a friend as a link that opens in their Zari.
- Can’t decide where to go? Let Zari pick one for you.
Other ways people do it
- Saving the video to your favourites. It keeps the video, not the place, and nothing puts it on a map.
- Screenshots. They end up among every other photo, and the name is often only in the voiceover.
- Looking it up in a maps app and saving it to a list. It works, but it is a search for each place, and the list doesn’t remember which video it came from.

How do I save a place I saw on TikTok?
Install Zari on your iPhone. On the TikTok, tap Share, then More at the end of the row of apps, then Zari. Zari reads the caption, finds the place it names and shows it to you. Pick a category and tap Save, and the place is pinned on your map.
Does it work with Instagram posts and Reels?
Yes. Share the post or Reel from Instagram the same way: Share, then More, then Zari. Instagram sometimes hides a post’s caption from other apps; when it does, type the place’s name and pick it from the suggestions.
What if the video doesn’t say where it is?
Zari looks for a 📍, a tagged account, or a name in the caption. If someone else has already saved a place from the same post, Zari offers that place. If it still can’t tell, type the name and choose it from the suggestions. The link stays with the spot either way, so you can watch the post again later.
Does it work with captions that aren’t in English?
Yes. Zari reads captions in other languages too, Greek included, and finds places under the names they go by locally.
Isn’t saving the video to my TikTok favourites enough?
Favourites keep the video, not the place. They aren’t on a map, so they can’t show you what you saved near where you are, and you have to watch the videos again to find out where each one was.
Is Zari free?
Zari keeps up to 10 spots for free, and 5 more for each friend you invite who saves 10 of their own, up to 25. Zari Pro, a monthly or yearly subscription, removes the limit.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. Zari is for iPhone.
Where are my saved places stored?
On your phone, with a backup in your own iCloud, so they follow you to a new iPhone. You sign in with Apple, but Zari doesn’t ask for your name or email, and your spots are never stored with the account.
